Comment on Journals for Comparative Politics
Political scientists have designed this site as an outlet for their colleagues to share their experiences--both positive and negative--with submitting to or reading scholarly political science journals. Postings aim to promote more consistent adherence to an ethical code by journals and their contributors, an improved review process experience, and a superior product for readers.

I recently had what by all accounts can be considered a good experience with Comparative Political Studies. I received a confirmation within hours of submission, and was sent a decision within two months. All things considered, it was efficient, and nothing bad happened, which can be a fair barometer for most journals.
I concur. CPS is by far the most professional journal in the subfield. They are prompt with answer to any of my queries. The folks at the University of Washington, particularly the editor (Caporaso), is doing a good job.
I also had a great experience with CPS: turned in a manuscript, got R&R feedback within 6 weeks. Turned back edits in less than a week and heard back within days that it was accepted.
It will be a while before it's published... but still, everything was very timely.
I got an R&R from CPS for a qualitative paper within 5 weeks. I re-submitted it in august of 2009 and got accepted in September 2009. However i have to wait until august 2011 for it to be published. Overall great experience, Caporaso is a great editor.
Have had many good experiences with CPS. Fast, professional, very helpful reviews from appropriate reviewers. By far my favorite journal in CP to submit to. The lead time for publications are very long, however -- upwards of 18 months.
I have had nothing but negative experiences with World Politics. Waiting more than a year for reviews, little communication from editors, poorly selected reviewers who evidently didn't know the area of research, etc. Because of these poor experiences I haven't submitted there in several years, but colleagues report that it's still the same story.
CP falls somewhere in the middle.
